I'll Try Living Like This (2015)

I'll Try Living Like This pulls vaporwave's slowed-down samples and hazy nostalgia toward something closer to actual songwriting, treating the genre's usual tools as a palette rather than the whole point. "내 마음은 떨고" folds a mournful, half-buried vocal into warped, K-pop-adjacent samples, turning source material usually played for genre-signifying irony into something genuinely melancholic. The album favors emotional clarity over vaporwave's more common ironic distance throughout. It remains one of the records most credited with proving the genre could sustain real songwriting rather than just atmosphere.

I'll Try Living Like This · 2015

death's dynamic shroud formed in the United States in the early 2010s, built around a shifting lineup that has centered on Tech Honors and James Webster, working within vaporwave's slowed-down, sample-heavy palette while pushing it toward something closer to genuine pop songwriting. The band draws on 1990s Western alternative rock and Japanese and Korean pop and film samples in roughly equal measure, a combination that sets them apart from vaporwave's more purely ambient or elevator-music-indebted wing.

I'll Try Living Like This, released in 2015, originally appeared under the fuller name death's dynamic shroud.wmv, a suffix later dropped as the band's music moved further from vaporwave's internet-native, meme-adjacent origins. The band has continued releasing music steadily since, refining the same blend of hazy nostalgia and genuine songcraft across further albums. Their catalog has aged into one of the more melodically ambitious corners of a genre often defined by its anonymity.
